Ready to go home, all packed when the paediatrician carried out his discharge checks. Aaron has a "heart murmur". within 1 hour Aaron is taken to special care and has a full heart scan. this scan revealed a major heart defect. he has two holes in the heart (complete AVSD) and mitral valve regurgitation. He is admitted to SCBU until his apt with Alder Hey. |

Apt with Dr Kitchener cardio consultant Alder Hey. Confirms initial diagnosis. it is agreed we can take Aaron home, Dr Kitchener will see Aaron every month to check on his progress. We then had to wait 8 hours for an ambulance to return us to Countess of Chester hospital! 9.45 pm before we get back to Chester, we are advised to leave Aaron at Chester, and take him home tomorrow. we are devestated that we've got to wait another day before we can bring our baby home. |

Aaron's christening. We had a lovely day. Aunty Jen & Uncle Tony were Godparents. After the church service we went for a lovely Sunday Lunch. |

Aaron in hospital for the whole of Easter weekend. He gets his first easter egg from his community nurse. Mummy and daddy enjoy helping him eat his egg! |

Catheter operation on heart to check pressures within heart prior to planning open heart surgery. Grandad buys Aaron his first football kit for being a brave boy during his operation.
The LFC kit has "Aaron 1" printed on the back. |

Aaron went into heart failure and was taken to COCH where he was sent by ambulance to Manchester Children's hospital ICU. |

heart operation now delayed by at least 2 weeks. |

 |
heart operation - open heart surgery to repair AVSD. Surgeon confident mitral valve repair is a success. The longest 5 hours of our life. awaiting news of Aaron's safe return to ICU.
Great relief when we can see him again. |

Aaron has cardic arrest and needs to be resusitated. very scary and frightening watch the doctors work on him. |

|

 |
Aaron goes into multiple organ failure. we are advised by two ICU consultants that Aaron is now critical and we need to prepare ourselves for the machines to be switched off.
The hardest phones call we have had to make to advise family of current devastating situation. |

 |
LFC football players visit the hospital. They come up to ICU and spend time with all the patients and families.
They sign Aaron's football kit and have photos taken with him.
our prayers have been answered and we have a miracle - Aaron has made a drastic improvement. His heart operation will take place tomorrow.

we are told that Aaron has a 25% chance of surviving this second heart operation. He needs to have open heart surgery to replace his mitral valve with a man-made valve.
7 hours of pure hell, pacing the floor waiting for news. At last good news Aaron back on ICU and the surgery was a complete success and very straight forward.
Aaron wide awake tonight - listening to the carol singers as they visit the ward.

Aaron wide awake - smiling and helping unwrap all his presents Father Christmas has delivered.
It is the best possible Christmas we could have hoped for. It really made us realise that the importance of Christmas is spending time with people you love and cherish and not running round buying pointless gifts, and over eating and drinking. |

Aaron taken off the ventilator today - 1st time since he was put on 9/11/04
Major step forward today. a ray of hope for Aaron coming home before his 1st birthday. |

Aaron was moved off ICU today and transfered to HIgh Dependency (HDU). another postive step on the road of recovery.
We are nearly at the door home! |

Aaron deteriorated drastically and is transfered back to ICU. He is now back on the ventilator.
A real set back and totally devastating for us. We really thought we were on our way home. |

Aaron diagnosed with RSV - a broncial infection. He has to go into an isolation cubicle because RSV is highly contagious. |

Operation within the isolation cubicle to remove infected tissue from Aaron's heart operation scars.
Aaron now on a very fierce ventilator and there is negotiations with Great Ormond Street as to whether Aaron is to be transfered to GOSH for treatment.
We struggle to understand this. Aaron is so poorly he can not be moved to have his bed cahnged - how will he survive transfer to GOSH?
GOSH decide Aaron is too poorly and will not survive the transfer, therefore he is to remain in AH. |

After a very distressing and stressful, sleepless night, Aaron's consultant tells us that Aaron has died and it is only the machines working for him now. we have to agree to the consultant taking Aaron off the life support machine.
Mummy holds Aaron as the machines are disconected. Aaron died at 9.18 am - exactly the same time as he was born! |
